There will be three days of special live music a part of the Pop-Ups series to maintain presenting Kurdish musical heritage while mainstream culture pushes minor heritages in the corner, The themes and melodies from four parts of the Great Kurdistan will be performed Museum by Kurdish Kamāncha player and composer Shahriyar Jamshidi at Aga Khan Museum.
The musical culture I present is engrained in Kurdish heritage. The classical Kurdish music system is structured on modal (microtonal) music originally the modal vocal melodies representing the Kurdish music. Kurdish music is mainly based on vocal nonmetric songs these motives are transmitted by individual singers to the next generation over centuries.
