An Exceptional evening with Kamancheh
Shahriyar Jamshidi, Composer, Kamancheh player, Vocalist, Middle Eastern (Kurdish and Iranian) Classical and contemporary musician.

The presentation-performance event will focus on Kamancheh (Spiked-fiddle) one of the traditional significant music instrument in the music of Middle East and Central Asia.
The event consists of two sections: presentation and performance. In first section, the technics, the capabilities of Kamancheh, and the role of this instrument in music of those regions, particularly Kurdish areas, will be discussed. In second section, some instrumental pieces will be performed by Shahriyar. In this presentation-performance, the position of the instrument in contemporary music as well as a potential role of Kamancheh in western music will be explored.
