The International Society for Improvised Music (ISIM) is happy to announce that its 2016 event will take place in Waterloo and Toronto, Ontario, Canada, hosted by Wilfrid Laurier University from May 12th through 15th.  ISIM’s first-ever event to be held outside the USA took place in July 2015 in Château d’Oex, Switzerland. We look forward to following the great success of that event with our second outside the USA, this time in one of the most vibrant improvised music scenes in North America. The gathering will as usual combine festival and conference components and bring together musicians, teachers, scholars, promoters, and listeners who are interested in exploring the many facets of spontaneous musical creativity. We invite you to seize this opportunity to create connections and share knowledge with world-class devotees of the art of improvisation from all around the globe.
