“Pegey Roshnbiry Kurdy Ottawa”, Ottawa Kurdish Cultural Forum will be presenting!

A talk and solo performance to highlight the musical heritage, there will be a brief talk about the history of Kurdish music how it has been colonized in the past century by central cultures and how the Kurdish artists were incurious about the role of the colonized music. Shahriyar Jamshidi talks about the history of the media and public radio in mostly Iran Eastern Kurdistan (Rojhelat); how those social tools helped to push the musical heritage of the Kurds into the corner purposefully and the Kurdish artists unconsciously have been a part of the processing. This event will be in Kurdish Sorani.
